Mother’s Heart Cambodia with the help and support of Mother’s Choice and Mother’s Hope, started in Sept 2010.
Mother’s Heart’s vision is to provide unconditional love to women facing crisis pregnancies and to see women empowered with choices, so that they can make the best decision for their future and the future of their babies.
Mother’s Heart plans to begin addressing the needs of women by creating a safe and confidential environment where young women can come without judgment to explore their situation and their future options, when faced with an unplanned or unwanted pregnancy. Women will have access to unconditional love when facing crisis pregnancies. Women will have access to free pregnancy, and post abortion counseling. Women will be able to explore the options of parenting, and local adoption, partnering with “children within families” and local support networks.
Women will have access to free health care, through advocacy and accessing the local Government Health Services available during their pregnancy, delivery and Postnatal Period.
Mother’s Heart believes in partnering and strengthening; by building upon the already existing Cambodian Government Health Services. Mother’s Heart seeks to promote sex education and contraceptive use amongst the young female population through education resources and referral networks to Health Service providers.
Single women who need a safe place will have access to temporary housing during their pregnancy and for women choosing to relinquish their babies for local fostering; providing a place of refuge for the purpose of accommodating single pregnant mothers.
Single mothers will have access to vocational training through referral networks.
Mother’s Heart seeks to have a framework for research and basis for advocacy for these issues in Cambodia.
What makes this concept distinctive is: Crisis Pregnancy Service offers counseling to women facing an unplanned or unwanted pregnancy. It also provides women with viable alternatives to abortion where there are currently no existing services in either of these areas. It helps young women from all facets of life at a critical time in their lives and seeks to empower by providing them with choices.
